pop and lolli, restickable designer fabric wall decals, creative room decor for children

by Jessika Hepburn, Editor

Imagine being able to quickly and easily transform any room into a magical scene that will engage your child’s imagination and fuel their creativity-now you can! Pop and Lolli is a new company launched in October of 2010 specializing in high quality re-stickable, eco-friendly, designer wall decals. Pop and Lolli is set to ignite the world of children’s decor with their modern designs, quirky illustrations and modern color palette.

Mia is the creative mind behind Pop and Lolli and I caught up with her via email to ask a couple of questions about what inspires her to create & to fill us in about her recent trip to South Africa. Mia was there making the first charitable distribution as part of Pop and Lolli’s (it’s) chic 2 change social responsibility program. Her answer is a great example of how having a social component to your business can inspire community, meaningful change and creativity too!

Mia: For every set of Pop & Lolli experience design decals purchased, (it’s) chic 2 change provides educational materials and resources to positively influence South African children in need.  We recently visited South Africa and made our very first charity distribution.  Born and raised in South Africa, I have always wanted to give back, and decided it was the ideal opportunity to realize a life long dream and incorporate my very own charity, (it’s) chic 2 change, along with the launch of Pop & Lolli.  We aspire to help children in need, and are partnering with a wonderful South African charity, I Am Changing The World, as they have their finger on the pulse and know exactly what and where the needs are.  The other bonus, and chic 2 change requirement, is that 100% of our donated dollars get applied to the children in need, and nothing is wasted on admin and other 3rd party fees!

We are proud to say our very first charity distribution influenced 800 high school students from Illenge High in Vosloorus, Gauteng, SA.  Our donation helped them build a school hall so they can assemble under a roof and be warm during the icy cold winter months. We have ensured a safe environment in classrooms by re-installing electrical wires which previously were dangling exposed right next to the kids! And we were able to put doors on classrooms which didn’t have any.  We are also working towards upgrading/installing extra bathrooms, provide food boxes, and many other things.  There will always be a need, and we are happy to help facilitate change!

Mia: I was born and raised in South Africa and earned a degree in Architecture at the University of Pretoria. After I graduated and got married, I moved with my husband to Washington, DC (we have since moved to Los Angeles). I have always had an intense passion for true African Art and Culture.  The color and the vibrancy of the designs, and the unique and extreme variance in style and most often the fine attention to detail are all awe-inspiring.  South Africa is a gorgeous country and has TONS to offer – most people have a hard time believing we have ELEVEN official languages!  A true rainbow nation and a melting pot of many great things – it certainly is a recipe for fantastical creations! The textures, the landscapes, the sunsets, the smells, the food, the color, the languages … one can only listen, smell, observe, taste and feel to KNOW Africa is in your blood.  And if it’s in your blood it is a part of you, one cannot help but to always be mesmerized, reminisce and be affected by it. Always.  Often.  And I’m proud of it! 🙂

  2. Korey says:

I LOVE the Enchanted Forest Trees! It would be perfect for my son’s room, and the Tweetie Birdies would be great for my daughter. Beautiful!!!

  3. Simone says:

Where the Wild Things Grow (the apple tree with the counting numbers) is just so perfect for a playroom or my little guy’s nursery. All of the designs are just gorgeous! Great find.

  4. Heidi Robbins says:

I’ve been holding out for some truly unique vinyl clings for my daughter’s room, and this is it! My favorites are the Desert Trees and Birdies. We just went camping at Joshua Tree and the little fluffy birds hanging around our campsite fascinated our 4 year-old 🙂

I’ve been looking high and low for wall decals that are not ugly. We are Expats and move a lot – and we often are not allowed to paint or wallpaper the houses we rent. Wall stickers are the perfect solution – and now I found some that I love! But oh, the choices! The desert trees are lovely. But so it everything else!

  6. Leslie says:

These are magical! I think I will need the forest animals for my grandson’s room and the trees of wisdom and knowledge for my Head Start classroom! I am especially happy to read about the charity work, too. All good wishes to you.

  7. jennie says:

Oh My! How could I ever choose JUST ONE!??! I absolutley LOVE the Noah’s African Circus characters, and the Enchanted Forest Trees, and the Fun Times Playful Accessories, are by far my top favorite. But I love them all! I would transform my 3month old and 2 year old rooms into something totally AWESOME!

  8. Kelly K. says:

I like the tweetie birdies! We just refinished our basement so we can have a play area down there for my daughter and these would really spruce up the place! 🙂

  9. Lisa says:

wow! All of these decals are so adorable! I just want them all. I can’t wait to have a child’s room to decorate, but honestly I think these could be used even in a fun adult space. I would love to have these birdies for my art studio!

  11. richelle says:

my favorite design set is the fantasy forest critters…particularly tiny the bear, and tweedle-doo the deer. so cute! my daughter would have a great time rearranging these critters on her walls!

  12. tiffany says:

oh my goodness… are you kidding me?!? those are amazing! my favorite are the gorgeous enchanted forest trees (with a close second for magical desert trees), but my daughter would flip over a room filled with blooming blossoms, design divas or tweetie birdies. really precious.

  13. Tanya says:

These are so sweet. I have a baby boy whose room we haven’t done a thing to yet. I think the birds would be a cute idea for his room and the blooming blossoms would look adorable in my daughters room

Wow! These are fabulous!!! And while I’m in love with many of the designs, I think my favorite part is the Chic 2 Change…it always pleases me to see how creatively others can find ways to help those around them! Way to go Pop & Lolli! (oh yea, and thanks for the chance to win some of your treasures! I’d use them to help spruce my creative space, my sewing room! and I might possibly share a couple with the kiddos!) 😉
