A Postcard from the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania

Postcard

It had been nearly 10 years since I dipped my toes into this pristine lake in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. As a young girl I had spent 1 week each summer with friends and family in a beautiful open A-frame cabin on the lake- days were spent fishing on the lake, jumping off the floating docks, and meandering along the forest forging new paths.

Today I’m sending you a post card from the very same lake, A-frame cabin, and forest floor- revisiting cherished memories, making new ones, and reminding you to meander more often into woods- jump into the waters- or fly.

“Come to the edge, He said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, He said.
They came. He pushed them,
And they flew . . .”

— Guillaume Apollinaire
French poet

Ahhh! A-frames! They’re the quintessential architecture of the Poconos! I was born + raised in those mountains…pretty special. You’ll have to let me know which lake – I bet our paths crossed before OMHG! Thanks for sending a postcard from my childhood. <3

Darice, it’s a private resort called Mountain Springs Lake. I’m not surprised if out paths have crossed- it’s crazy to think how close we’ve been to each other all this time! I hope you’re settling well into your new home!

Hahahaha! My dad and I used to drive Rt 715 directly past that lake almost daily. (Matt & I both lived less than 10 miles from there.) That is too funny! …and yes, we’re settled quite nicely, thanks! Feeling so much more connected to everything. 🙂

What a magic place this sounds Jenelle, and the photo has such atmosphere. I love the sentiment. I think it is amazing what we can do when we face our fears!

Hi Jane! It’s equally exciting to take the leap yourself as it is to watch others- I love sharing in those celebrations!! What fear have you faced recently?

      • Jane @ EarthAppleJane says:

I have been a little overwhelmed recently & consequently was burying my head & escaping. I am now facing up to the fact that things only become more overwhelming that way. So I am facing my fear of not being able to cope by attempting to take it one step at time. I think it’s working!! Thank you for asking.
