We’ve come a long way from hand sewing by candle light and carting our work to market on horseback. Both the mechanical and digital revolution transformed how we create and how we sell our handwork. While each generation needs to welcome and grow with our changing world it is also so very important to not forget the value in what has come before.
For our August theme we are traveling into the past and exploring the history of handmade and our Handmade Heritage from lace-making to letterpress. We will talk about old talents and techniques, share stories and lessons learned, pieces passed down through generations and the legacy of living a handmade life. We are part of a movement that started when the first person decided to get creative and embellish what they were making, lets trace some of that history together and see what it tells us about where we are now.
I hope you enjoy this theme and get involved-share your stories of treasured pieces of handmade, your own handmade heritage, or a maker from the past whose work you love or a technique you want to see passed on. Blog about it and add your link below or join in on our #omhg chats this month!
