Do you remember these flower wands? I promised a tutorial showing how to make the roses and here it is! Only way better then I had planned. I connected with a new sponsor & source for the most incredible wool felt ever, Janet of Felt on the Fly. I suggested that I make readers a tutorial using her felt and she sent me a gorgeous “blossom” color way-I had never used merino felt before and am head over heels in love now. I don’t know if I can go back to wool felt now-I want a studio filled with merino…but then you might never see me again!
I love felt and flowers but I wanted to take this tutorial up a notch. Not just for kids, this rose is grown up enough for a wedding, special gift or to decorate a room. Get lost browsing Felt on the Fly’s color palettes-there is enough inspiration for a whole garden of blossoms.
To make this long stem rose start by downloading the illustrated template by clicking here & printing out the PDF.
Then follow these step by step instructions (just click on the picture to see a bigger image):
I want to make a thousand of them-imagine a bridal bouquet of these flowers? In the middle of our Nova Scotia winters I’ll be filling vases with these instead of pining for roses.
How about you? Who will you give a rose to this summer? Which colors of felt would you choose? I would love to know if you make some roses of your own-tell in the comments!
