Hi friends, I’m popping in on a Sunday (or Monday morning for email subscribers) to let you know about some contests that can help your creative business and give you an amazing start to 2013. Brush off your pitch skills and enter your goodness!

uncommongoods upcycling design challenge, contests to boost your creative biz1. UncommonGoods Upcycling Design Challenge 

Deadline: November 15, 2012 at 11:59 PM ET

Prizes: Grand prize-$500 cash and an UncommonGoods vendor contract. Runners up-receive critique of submitted work from guest judges + tips for marketing and growing your business.

Submission: Anything & everything as long as the product/work has an upcycling story + is made with safe and animal friendly materials. *open to US residents*

Deadline: November 30, 2012

Prizes: Grand prize of $10,000 and the titleholder of the 2012 Dough to Grow Award.

Submission: Nominate yourself as North America’s favorite small business and then round up the troops to get your community to vote for you. Winner will be chosen based on: compelling story  35%, enthusiasm, creativity and passion for your business 25%, quantity of votes 15%, solid business & management team/owner 15%, positive impact on the community/ team 10%  *open to NA residents ex. Quebec*

Deadline: December 31, 2012 at 11:59 PM EST

Prizes: Trip to New York to meet mentors Tim Ferris, Daymond John, Tina Roth Eisenberg + Eric Ries, $50,000 investment,  meeting with editor to review media strategy + pitch a feature article for their print magazine, & $20,000 USD Google Adwords credit.

Submission: Come up with a product to sell, open your online store & pick a mentor. The Shopify community & your mentor support you along the way, the store that sells the most over a two month period wins. *2 contests Canada/US residents*

4. A Giving Chance Business Makeover

Deadline: December 24, 2012, 11:59pm MST

Prizes: 2 prize packages with goodies from the dream team of 18 sponsors including a session with Jonathan Fields, copywriting coaching from Alex Franzen, and a completely new website from Ekcetera.

Submission: This is the neat part! To enter donate $10 or $25 to Compassion International’s Child Survival Program +  enter a friend to win. Winner drawn on Christmas Day!
