#OMHG Question of the Week: What do you need to grow?

#OMHG Question of the Week: What do you need to grow?

Do your business & creativity need more mentorship and support in order to grow? Do you need certain tools and supplies, or maybe just regular quiet time, paper + pen and a cup of tea? Do you feel like you have what you need to grow and cultivate your success?

This month on OMHG we are talking about growing our businesses & creativity from shoots to roots. Each of us needs different conditions in order to grow and thrive-what are yours?

We’re trying out a new series of weekly questions based on our themes & our #OMHG chats every Thursday from 1-2pm EST! Meet up in the comments to talk about our question of the week,  connect with other makers + entrepreneurs to learn from each other and swap knowledge + stop by our chats to visit us in real time.

Happy growing!

Well, like I tweeted at you, money/a financial cushion/a full-time job/someone in my family having a full-time job (give my mom a regular job, universe, she’s been looking for years!) would definitely make things easier for me. I think what it comes down to is what would make my mental health issues easier to manage and less likely to get in the way for me, and not worrying about money would be a huge factor in that. Not the only one, obviously, but it’s something I think about a lot because improving my work conditions is largely dependent on being able to afford things like moving out.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how much of what I don’t manage to do I can really change and how much I’m just not capable of overcoming and it’s such a blurry line, plus of course it’s tricky to think about and look at yourself honestly and say, okay, this is your fault and you need to change, OR, okay, this is not your fault and it’s not going to change unless you change your circumstances. Like both outcomes there are pretty scary thoughts.

I know what i need- 1. a target audience 2. ways to get my name out. 3. direction
I just started following you but i’ve gained so much insight already. My dream is to refurbish furniture and acutally get paid well to do it. You know, just like EVERYONE ELSE! One thing that I’ve changed, acutaually stemmed from your “100 ways to build your Commuity”. You got me to think outside the box and rather than have someone just purchase pieces of furniture I recreate, I’m offering services to have furniture paiting parties, one on one workshops, etc. I figured it’s probably one of the best advertising (word of mouth) and i still get to do what I love while having a job that will pay my bills. So i’m basically not losing money in the process. I haven’t gotten any bites on that YET and i’m still trying to figure it out as I go but I’m hoping I’m at least on to something!!…just don’t quite know what it is yet.
