Oh My! Handmade

Oh My! Handmade

Making a good life since 2010

Today is the Day! New House, New Site, Cadillac!

Friday, February 15, 2013 by Jessika Hepburn

Oh My! Handmade community financing campaign I feel a bit like a time bomb! So many beginnings happen today for our family and the OMHG community: we get the keys to our new house, our community financing campaign ends, and our new site gets all ready for pre-launch behind the scenes! Crazy day of goodness! Part of me feels a bit like Cinderella waiting for the bell to ring midnight and all these magical happenings to turn into pumpkins. I keep shushing that little voice because I know that this was a long journey of late nights and so much love to bring us to this place-but it does feel too good to be true!

It was almost a year ago to the day that I headed to Lunenburg with the girls while Chris started renovation on our house and we decided to make the leap towards the life we had always wanted. I think our story is proof that if you want something with all of your heart, are willing to do the hard work to make it happen (even when things suck), and have the support of family/friends/community, then anything at all is possible. I believe our new site will be that network of support to help all of us work towards the creative life we have always imagined in cities + towns around the world. It fills my heart to know we are building our dreams together! Our community campaign has been a huge success and helped make this all happen.

There are only 35 of the 100 spaces left and we have a team of absolutely incredible services, supplies & supports for creative entrepreneurs, hop on over to our community financing page to learn more.. Designers, developers, press & pr mavens, events to ignite your creativity, cheerleaders to support your greatness, the coolest co-working space ever, on + offline resources for your business, and so so so much more. This is just the beginning! The story has been spread all over the internets with 1000s of retweets, views, and shares-all generated by our community. To promote the campaign I published the page, post, one newsletter, and sent four emails to people I love/admire and the rest happened all on its own! Thank you to every single one of you who signed up or helped spread the word to the services & supplies you love. You have helped build our new community from the ground up and I can’t wait to move us all into our new virtual home! I also promise I’ll be writing a post on how this campaign worked out + how you can use this experiment to launch your own great work.

And if you happen to be in Lunenburg this weekend swing on by 49 Townsend St. and say hi to us-we’ll be painting up a storm and filling up our new  home with love! oh my handmade home

Care/Carry/Cure an essay from ‘You Care Too Much’

In June of 2016 I supported my love Chris as we dealt with the death of both his parents and a co-worker over a three week period. This essay written the summer of those deaths is my attempt to make sense of grief and the struggle to carry all that I care for. Originally published […]
