Course Charting for 2013 – DIY Journal and Printable Sticker Download

Saturday, December 29, 2012 by Allisa Jacobs

I love this time of year. Not just for the sparkle ginger cookies or perpetual merry-making, but for the opportunity to reflect and start anew. It’s a time to celebrate another year of storms and success. And it’s a time to look ahead and chart our course.

I’ve always (yes, always!) started off my new year with a brand new journal. Sometimes with a focus, like daily inspiration quotes, and other years more of a wide open spaces approach. I like to capture the beginnings of each year – the plans, ideas, hopes. To me it’s a moment of paradox, both fragile and strong with anticipation.  For 2013, I’m using this little beauty along with some stickers I made to adorn the pages and want to share them with you.

To make your own new year’s journal you need:

  • Download the sticker sheet by clicking here

  • Moleskine or other plain journal
  • Fabric or paper scraps  (I used pastels from my Carlsbad collection on Spoonflower)
  • Spray Adhesive (not shown)
  • Sticker adhesive printer paper (to create stickers from download)

Cut your scraps into shapes you like. Here, I’ve made 1 inch squares and cut them on the diagonal to create even triangles. Lay out a design you like, I’ve made little arrow rows. Now, section by section, flip over your pieces and spray adhesive onto the backside (with lots of ventilation and something protecting the surface below). Then, carefully transfer your pieces back to your journal, pressing gently to adhere. Once you’ve your design is completed, give it time to dry & you’re all set.

I printed the download onto a big adhesive label sheet and then cut each out individually. Then, add inside to your pages for inspiration and design.

And if you’re in need of a quick gift, this makes a lovely one. Ok, let the dream catching, idea planning, list taking, and course charting for 2013 begin – hooray!

Do you make firm stick-to-it resolutions or chart a loose path for your coming year? Share your planning thoughts and lessons with us in the comments and happy, happy 2013 to you all!
