Oh My! Gift Guide: Animals

This holiday season, we’ve asked some of our favourite creatives, bloggers, makers and OMHG members to join us in rounding up great gift ideas. Here at OMHG, we love animals… or rather awesome animal-themed things, so this week’s gift guide is taking a walk on the wildlife side!

petitpippin

Isa’s Pick – Animal Softies from Petit Pippin

“These beautiful handcrafted softies would make the perfect heirloom gift for a child (girl or boy) who likes to go on magical adventures with their little fluffy friends. Made by hand in small batches, each one-of a kind toy features hand-painted and hand-embroidered details that make each softie extra special. They also come in a reusable cotton bag for easy storage and gifting.” – Isa Seminega is a business strategist, designer and chief cheerleader at the Success Society – a free email community dedicated to teaching overworked and underpaid creative entrepreneurs how to design their business for good growth.

Anile’s Pick – Polar Bear Tea Bag Holder from Kim Welling

“If you love bears, nautical themes and drinking tea, this darling little sailor dish will have you hook, line and sinker! Kim Welling’s charming illustrations are both whimsical and modern. Alternately, this sweet little plate could double as a jewelry dish, too.” – Anile Prakash is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator – you can find her at Girlfriday. Ed. note – Anile lives with the world’s happiest dog – Panda – follow @girlfriday_ on Instagram for an instant day brightener!

Oh My Gift Guide: Small Wild

Jessika’s Pick – Anything from the new Small Wild

“Danielle Pedersen formerly of HandyMaiden was really the first Etsy seller to spark the trend of animal totems that took the handmade world by storm years ago and has brought so much tiny cuteness to the world! Danielle has a beautiful new brand called Small Wild, a new site, and a new line of gorgeous hand painted ceramic totems and necklaces. I love seeing makers develop their work and supporting their growth so I’m happy to help our community shop small with Small Wild!” – Jessika is a cheerful activist, community maker, and chief-unicorn-wrangler here at Oh My! Handmade, learn more about her here.

unicorn

Viktorija’s Pick – Unicorn Cushion from The Fox In The Attic

OMHG’s favourite animal always makes a great gift!  “I am absolutely in love with this super cute cushion for many reasons. It’s adorable, it’s based on an original watercolour drawing, it’s handmade with love, has such lovely patterned fabric on the back… I could go on, but really, what’s not to love?! Your own lovely soft unicorn and you can hug it too!” – Viktorija is the illustrator, designer and maker behind London’s Andsmile Studio. We recently profiled Viktorija right here on OMHG, get a peek into her biz here.

tiny owl knits

Marisa’s Pick – Tiny Owl Knits

“Tiny Owl patterns are pure magic (and wool). If you love to make gifts, and know how to knit, you should definitely make a whimsical woodland creation for your favourite friend. Whether you pick a pair of woodsy fingerless gloves (the raccoon is my favourite) or a cozy pair of bunny slippers, these are knits worth gifting!” – Marisa Edghill can only knit a not-so-fancy scarf but is a whiz with washi tape. Follow her Instagram adventures for lots of crafty inspiration and colourful fun.

kiriki

Bonus Pick – Kiriki Press Embroidery Kits

Don’t want to make a gift, but rather to give a gift to make? We LOVE Kiriki’s embroidery kits. And how cute is that raccoon?  A lovely gift for your crafty friends and perfect for wiling away the dark days of January, stitching by the fire.
